Policy Flash: Solar Panels and Inverters included in the next EU Ecodesign Working Plan

We wanted to inform you that both solar panels and inverters will be included in the next EU Ecodesign Working Plan, which will officially be presented on 30 November 2016.
Ecodesign measures define minimum technical criteria for the placing of products on the European market and, as such, may have an important impact on manufacturers.
The inclusion of solar panels and inverters in the EU Ecodesign Working Plan does not mean that ecodesign measures will necessarily be developed for these products. It is however an indication that the European Commission considers that ecodesign requirements for solar panels and inverters could generate energy savings and increase resource efficiency.
The overall process needed to adopt such ecodesign measures will provide us with multiple opportunities to interact with the European Commission.
